1. Information We Collect

When you register for an account, we collect your name and email address. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.

We also measure how quickly pages load and respond, for visitors who are not signed in as well as those who are. Each measurement is stored as five things: which metric it is (for example how long the largest element took to paint), the number, the path of the page, the time, and one word for where the visit came from — search, internal, external or direct. That last one is a category and never the address you came from: a referring address can contain what you searched for, and an unusual one would link two measurements together. Nothing else is recorded — no IP address, no browser or device information, no identifier of any kind — so one measurement cannot be linked to another, or to you. The measuring happens in your browser and the numbers are sent to this site; they are never sent anywhere else.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Account management — to provide you with access to posting and commenting features
• Email notifications — to send you new post alerts if subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Analytics — to understand which content is most useful and improve the site

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on our servers. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication sessions. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. When you sign in we also set a cookie named signed-in that holds only the value 1, so pages know whether to ask for your session; it says nothing about who you are and is removed when you sign out.

A few things are kept in your browser’s local storage rather than sent to us: your light or dark theme, the learning-path steps you mark as done, and answers the Docker guide assistant has already given you, so a repeated question does not ask again. They stay on your device, and clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

5. Third-Party Services

We use Resend for email delivery. Your email address may be processed by this service in accordance with their privacy policies.

6. Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. You can unsubscribe from newsletters using the link in any email.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed within 30 days.
